Critics get their Knives out to pan Ramsay Restaurant

British celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay's new restaurant in New York City has been savaged by food critics.

The new restaurant, called Gordon Ramsay at the London, features a French-influenced menu and is located inside the London NYC Hotel in Midtown.

However, foul-mouthed Ramsay's $4 million establishment has not met the approval of local food writers, with one describing its lighting as "pitiful".

The New York Magazine's Gael Green writes, "Sea scallops, slivered, then overcooked, suggest someone has not a clue what great chefs here do with diver scallops".

"We are shocked by a leathery lobster ravioli and an unseemly marriage of langoustine tails and maple-infused chicken (not to mention the bill)".

New York Sun writer Paul Adams concurs, "The sweet meat had that rubbery sauce that signals overcooking.  Meanwhile, my companion's mushroom risotto was a distinct disappointment...... (with) an excess of soupy liquid".
