Mediterranean Diet Reduces Risk of Asthma

Studies from Spain and Mexico have shown that following a diet high in healthy fats (such as olive oil and fish) and plant-based foods (particularly fruit, vegies and nuts) can reduce the risk of asthma by up to 40 per cent in kids aged six to seven.

The diet was also found to reduce wheezing and ithcy/watery eyes by 36 per cent, respectively.  It's thought that the high antioxidant content may help protect against oxidative damage in the airways, while the omega-3 fats may also play a role.
